Can you recommend a video to learn how to play electric guitar?

Could be on YouTube or a DVD … and what guitar would you buy to learn?

Hello, there are plenty of good stuff on www.justinguitar.com to learn to play guitar. As to what the guitar, it really depends what kind of music you want and your budget. If you like Stratocasters, Squier (owned by Fender) is a reasonable bet with series of affinity as a starting point for a decent quality. If you prefer a Les Paul, and Epiphone versions (owned by Gibson) are OK. So you will not hurt anything by Yamaha and Ibanez. Humbucker pickups are best suited to rock whereas simple microphones give a cleaner sound. Strats use single coils, humbuckers Les Pauls use. If you want maximum flexibility, choose a guitar with two types of pickup. If you can, you should visit a store of good music and try some. You'll be surprised how the weight, balance, sensation of the neck, etc. can make a big difference. Good luck.
