I want to learn to play jazz guitar

What equipment? Obviously a guitar, but what kind? I never played guitar in my life and want to learn. Do I have the amp to play jazz guitar, if so what would you recommend?

Most jazz guitar you hear on the recordings is played on an electric guitar, so you'll want to get an amplifier with an electric guitar. If your goal is to emulate the same sounds you've heard other jazz guitarists use that fact that fat, clean, soft and bass-y tone, then you will be able to do this with a variety of guitars and amps, but the "classic" jazz guitars have always been (or hollow bodied, semi-hollow bodied guitars) Gibson, as the 175 (the ultimate jazz guitar) or 335. You can play jazz on any what guitar, those I mentioned, the Gibson 175 and the 335 are really the favorites and people are accustomed to seeing jazz musicians playing these instruments, for whatever it's worth, but in reality, almost any guitar will do. You would look funny on site at a jazz concert with some guitar has been designed with an aesthetic geared more for grinding and heavy metal, but really, there are so many other guitars that would be suitable for jazz.
